The Lion, the Witch Hunt, and the Wart Hog: "Penn State on a Stick"

The trouble is, I'm still trying to collect my thoughts as much as anybody else. And every attempt eludes me when I try to make a measured response to something as appalling as the reports coming out of this fine university. Even worse, no matter what I write, it’s obsolete and inaccurate when the next revelation comes.
But we have bigger fish to fry. There are hundreds of victims who need our prayers, and it’s time to let the flawed criminal system do its job as we get about the higher business of praying for recovery.
What Joe Paterno did was punctuate the famous quote by Edmund Burke. Coach Paterno, by his failure to act, put about ten exclamation points on the statement that the surest way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.

Anglican Priest, Charles Moncrief, serves up the issues of the day on a platter mixed with scripture, seriousness, and a sense of humor to create a ministry founded in love for his fellow man.

“I’m an Anglican Priest, disguised as a geek during the week. It’s REALLY tough to change my costume, since phone booths are getting hard to find!”

It IS Different Now

Stabbings. Shootings. Drugs. Violence. You might be compelled to think that I am talking about the cartels in Mexico and the ongoing war on drugs. You would be wrong. I am talking about a day in the life of our junior and high school students.

It IS Different Now

Often I hear parents say that schools today haven’t changed much since they were themselves there.  I hear parents say that bullying is not something to get worked up over.  It will pass.  It is how kids build thicker skins.  I say tell that to Jamey Rodemeyer, the 14-year old boy that killed himself on September 17, 2011 after being bullied and tormented for years.

“The Billboard Queen” – Desperation City U.S.A.

Ladyjustice has been fortunate to have a consistent work history for more than 30 years with very few gaps.  However, the two gaps that occurred, can take a toll on a person’s psyche.

Never fear….LJ was determined to market herself uniquely using radio, newspaper and TV interviews in combination with the billboard.  And… that’s just what occurred!

Making Your Google+ Profile Work For YOU

Amplifyd from www.marketingzen.com

We’ve found the simplicity of Google+ to be a great advantage, as well as the opportunity to categorize the many connections you make online.  Yes, you can do it with Facebook and Twitter as well, but with the drop and drag circles, it’s so much easier!

Using Google+ Profile as Your Billboard

Your “About” page should be concise, easy to read, and express pertinent information about yourself or your business. Although, at this time, separate business pages aren’t available as they are on Facebook, it doesn’t mean that you can’t use your profile to be a billboard.  Links and content are easy to add, as well as location, contact information and a map, if you choose.  Give your potential customers a quick look at your business, then direct them to your website where they can get the details.

Using Google+ Profile as a Link List

On the right hand side of your profile you can create a list of links.  Again, another place to showcase your website, blog and networks.  If you’re like me, you’ve joined tons of networks and sometimes forget about them.  This is an easy, convenient place to keep them handy and be able to be more active in the networks you join on a regular basis.  It also allows visitors to your profile find other possibilities to become more social!

A Conversation with Alfred Hitchcock…..

How does a 1954 murder mystery translate into modern day terms? Interesting take by LadyJustice!

Amplifyd from donnagore.com

A Conversation with Alfred Hitchcock…..

Where is Mrs. Thorwald?… (And Other Intimate Partner Details)

“How did I come to this fascination with murder mysteries?  Well, it’s about storytelling…just as it is with Ladyjustice. As a boy,  each day I was required to stand at the foot of my mother’s bed and tell her what happened to me… to give a daily report.”

“My father once wrote a letter to the local police station, asking the officer to lock me in jail for ten minutes. The officer complied and then he told me, “This is what happens to people who do bad things.

I’ve been frightened of the police ever since.”

Rear Window was made in 1954 (the birth year of Ladyjustice). Adapting a short story into a film is tricky… but we accomplished it.  There is nothing more mundane than being laid up with broken bones and watching the world go by, correct?  I beg to differ… we were able to capture the everyday lives of everyday people through the lenses of a photographer’s camera… and we discovered something out of the ordinary – a murder!

Voyeuristic behavior, a form of which is commonly known as “peeping tom” behavior, can be a component or a precursor to stalking or acts of sexual violence.  In 2005, Vermont created the crime of voyeurism.  Under 13 V. S. A. 2605, people are prohibited from intentionally hiding, waiting, or loitering in a place for the purpose of viewing  another person’s nude or partially clothed body without the person’s consent when the person being viewed has a reasonable expectation of privacy.  It also prohibits viewing or recording a person’s intimate areas under circumstances where the person should have reasonable expectation of privacy.  There are increased penalties if the person records the image of the other person’s nude or partially clothed body, and further penalties if they distribute these images.]

A pivotal point in the story is the occurrence of a neighbor’s dog with his neck broken.  As the neighbor wails and “scolds her neighbors” in frustration, everyone rushes to their window or terrace to view the scene, except Thorwald.  His apartment remains dark with only a lit cigar seen.
A daring Lisa nearly becomes the next murder victim by home invasion and locates a key piece of evidence…. just like our modern day sleuths like Diane Fanning and Susan Murphy Milano!
Suffice it to say,  had Susan Murphy Milano been older than a little bambino,…. and had her “Time’s Up” book been written, Anna Thorwald could have… hired a lawyer; secured her personal records including medical and insurance company records, found alternate living arrangements, perhaps made a recording of her abuse and kept 10 steps ahead of Lars, her abuser.  Such a pity!
Not even Hitch himself could have been “the master planner” for survivors of crime.

An Aruban Mystery Blossoms into a Resource Center

To this blogger, the name Natalee Holloway is nearly a “household name,” synonymous with other unsolved crimes which have gone before her.   We can readily conjure up a mental picture of this bubbly, bright, blonde young woman, “free at last” away from parental influence and on the precipices of adulthood, sipping her island drink. Unfortunately, she was totally unprepared for the local male vultures that make a game of taking advantage of female tourists.

Murderer’s Timeline Within the Past Year

(as reported on the NHRC website)

Still another “confession” 20 and counting…. Seriously!

Former confessions include:

  • -          Joran and his friends dropped her off at her hotel;
  • -          Joran left her on the beach alone;
  • -          Joran sold her to a man in a boat for $10,000;
  • -          A friend disposed of her body after she had a seizure following their sexual encounter;
  • -          Joran dumped her body in a swamp;

July, 2011

   No news…is hardly good news!  However, Ladyjustice was able to view previous footage of this Peruvian Jail.  It should be named “Animal House” – such a fitting name for Joran!  He is housed in Lurigancho Prison, which is the worst of the worst,” Michael Griffith, senior partner at the International Legal Defense Counsel, tells AOL News. “They should have a sign above the door there saying, ‘All those who pass this way leave all hope behind.’ “

Feature Story:

1) According to the U.S. Department of State, 2,500 citizens are arrested abroad each year. Nearly half of the arrests are for very small amounts of narcotics. Alcohol abuse is typically involved; Sexual assaults and robberies occur because students/travelers find themselves in unfamiliar locations.  “Date rape drugs” are not identified often until it is too late… Such travelers cannot protect themselves under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Frequently, they are also unfamiliar with different standards of safety abroad.  Motor vehicle deaths are the second most common causes of death abroad after natural death.

2) Such is the case of Ladyjustice’s friend. Since April 14, 2005, Maxine Russell has dedicated every waking moment to her primary purpose, that of finding the true answers in the horrific treatment and ultimate death of her son Darren, living in China.  Darren was embarking on a new career as a missionary teacher in China.  This so called “traffic accident” has become an international cover up of the greatest proportion, irreparably changing the lives of her entire family, taking its toll physically, emotionally, financially and otherwise!   Please go to the new website created at:   www.russellcase.net (website) and on Twitter at killed_in_China.

3)The Natalee Holloway Resource Center

The Natalee Holloway Resource Center focuses on education, and crime prevention. It is not a “recovery center.”  This is a misnomer, as we survivors of crime know; there is no “recovery”.  There is no “closure”.

NHRC shares selected goals similar to other organizations such as the gathering of resources, coordination of a plan to search for the missing and means to contact the media for purposes of public awareness.

The Travel Safe Program includes general and specific safety tips and detailed checklists for domestic and international travel.  Although many of the suggestions may be common sense, many people are not obsessive when it comes to the details of planning a vacation.  With teens in particular, it’s “throw a couple of pairs of shorts in a duffle bag with your bathing suit… and you’re done!    Nothing could be further from the truth when you are travelling to a foreign country.  Just ask Maxine Russell….  She will tell you!

Domestic and International Travel Tips

The key to safe traveling in any area is situational awareness. Distractions because of luggage, children, hotel personnel, strangers, etc. can put you at risk.

Know your surroundings and stay in control of every situation. Look and act confident. Be alert.

Act like you know where you are going. Do not look lost or confused; simply look for an authoritative person or company in which you can ask for directions.

Never flash your money in public. Exchange funds with reputable and recognized exchangers only.

Do not discuss travel plans, your room number or any other personal information in public within earshot of strangers.

Watch for scams on the street. Children working with adults are notorious as pickpockets.

Avoid public demonstrations and other civil disturbances.

The Keeper of Silent Secrets

From one who lived with a serial abuser and a serial victim, Susan Murphy Milano's true story is one of secrets exposed by the keeper of the secrets.

The Keeper of Silent Secrets

No matter how many years pass after the murder of my mother, Roberta Murphy, I continue to be the keeper of her silent secrets. As described for the first time in a recent radio interview with Vito Colucci, -http://archives.warpradio.om/btr//Crimetime/060523.mp3
She lived in the silence of the violence just beyond the front door on Highland Avenue in Chicago. A vibrant neighborhood, where one could always find at least one fireman or policeman living on every city block. It was considered a melting pot of middle class families. The wife of a Chicago Violent crimes detective and mother of three hid her pain and fears from anyone who came in close contact with her. And if one looked closely enough, they could see the sadness and fear in her bright brown eyes. Her smile, infectious and disarming. Throwing off anyone who might want to ask if everything was alright. Roberta Murphy always made you feel and believe "she was just fine."
As the keeper of my mother secrets I would never fully realize their destruction upon my life, until now. Those "secrets" were lifted like a celebration freedom dance in the street. Last week I finished the final chapter of the upcoming book "Holding My Hand Through Hell." The final copy is at the editors and is scheduled for release sometime in the fall. Below is an example of the book cover that continues to be changed daily. What the book is about is described in the following :

Based on a true story written with the flow of a novel, with frank wisdom and wit, “Holding My Hand Through Hell” encourages the reader to immerse themselves into this family's life and become an advocate for change. It will incite discussion, debate, and heightened awareness about hope, survival, abuse, murder, and its impact on our society. In the end, it will leave readers applauding this woman wondering how she escaped, sometimes at the eleventh hour and now 20 years later, realizing that God, after all was holding her hand through hell, delivering her from the evils of her life in order to save others.

Nancy Falling From Grace

How many others are sick and tired of vigilante journalism disguised as news reporting?

Nancy Falling From Grace

WWH – An open letter to Nancy Grace.

Dear Nancy,

You are truly grinding on my very last nerve. You’ve always gotten on my nerves, but as of lately, I can no longer bear to hear your voice. When I think about you my brain conjures up words like, “yellow journalism” and “sensationalist” and of course, “scandal monger.”

The mere tone of your voice screams dominatrix. Hey, and that’s okay. Whatever floats your boat. But, it goes beyond being a crusader, as you have self titled yourself. In my opinion, you more resemble a fire breathing dragon of bullshit.

When Casey was found not guilty, you painted a gruesome picture for your audience, speaking in that scary story voice of yours, relaying the details of Caylee’s death. Frankly, it was a really creepy bedtime story and you ended it with nostrils flaring and stating, “The Devil is Dancing tonight!” Damn, I just about pissed my pants. I sure as hell hope you didn’t tell that bedtime story to the twins last night. You were on the brink of riling people to the level of vigilante justice.

See, I still haven’t forgiven you for your statements following the suicide of 21-year-old Melinda Duckett. Remember when you interviewed her?

The very next day Melinda shot herself. Do I think you were responsible for her death. No, I don’t. Do I think Melinda was responsible for the disappearance of her son? I don’t know. Now we might never know. At the time of her appearance on your show, police stated that she was NOT a suspect at the time. My point being, you blew it.

And you made no apologies for it. You simply stated, “If anything, I would suggest that guilt made her commit suicide. To suggest that a 15- or 20-minute interview can cause someone to commit suicide is focusing on the wrong thing.”

I’ve also not forgiven you for what you attempted to pull during the Elizabeth Smart case. Remember Richard Ricci?

When asked if you felt sorry that you accused Ricci you responded by saying,” Ricci was “a known ex-con, a known felon, and brought suspicion on himself, so who could blame anyone for claiming he was the perpetrator?”

Think of all the hundreds of times you said, “TOT MOM” when you could having been saying, “Brian Sullivan, Derrick Hennigan, Tyler Thomas, Brittnee Drexel, Tabitha Franklin, and the names of thousands of others who are missing. Think of all the times you could have reminded your audience of Monica Caison and the C.U.E. Center and help fund REAL searchers. People who are out there searching instead of spewing hatred.

You suck, Nancy. I find you guilty of brainwashing propaganda. I find you guilty of bullying and character assassination. I find you guilty of evoking fear into people and doing it in the name of your Christian God.
